Voter Registration


Deadlines


In general, the deadline to register to vote in any election is the close of business on the fifth Monday preceding the election. Runoff elections are considered to be an extension of the preceding Primary or General election, so the deadline is the same as that for the Primary or General election.

Qualifications

To register to vote in Georgia, you must:
—Be a citizen of the United States, and
—Be at least 18 years old on the day of the next general or municipal election, and
—Have lived in your Georgia precinct for at least 30 days before the next election, and
—Not currently be in prison after being convicted of a crime.

If You Change Your Name or Address

You must transfer your registration whenever you move out of your precinct. You may use the mail-in voter registration application to do this. You should transfer your registration as soon as possible after you move.

You may register to vote at these locations, among others:
—Board of Elections, Clarke County Courthouse
—At a license branch while applying for or renewing a driver's license
—At a public assistance office, while applying for services
