Special Presentation on Downtown Athens (February 10th)

Downtown Athens is experiencing its greatest change in a generation. New mixed use projects are bringing a new dynamic, and transformative things are occurring within the “grid”. David S. Dwyer will address this dynamic, focusing on his development at the SunTrust site but also describing other new developments from East to West, from the former Athens Hardware site over to the former Snow Tire Company. If you haven’t been downtown in a while, you may just have reason to go after you have a better understanding of what is happening to Athens’ most important physical asset.

David S. Dwyer works in commercial real estate throughout the Southeastern United States. He studied economics and architectural history at Duke University and has an MBA in Real Estate & Entrepreneurship from UGA’s Terry Business School. David has worked for nearly 30 years in the area of Real Estate Investment Management with both institutions and individuals as clients. He has managed over $5billion in real estate, developed in every product class, and has focused on turning around problem assets. His projects have been diverse, including Class-A office buildings, the conversion of public housing to mixed-income and mixed-use development, and his personal favorite: novel restaurant development. After time in Washington, DC and Atlanta David returned to his hometown of Athens where he is currently Managing Director for Atlas Real Estate Advisors.

He and his wife Sandy live in Athens. They have a son, Henry, who is a freshman and a middle-distance runner on the track team at the University of Georgia.

Along with this presentation by David Dwyer, the Athens GOP will also host Congressional Candidate Gary Gerrard and US Senate Candidate Eugene Yu.  Arrive early to the Country Inn & Suites - the meeting will begin right at 6:00pm!
