There are vacancies on the Airport Authority, the Downtown Development Authority, the Planning Commission, the Hearings Board, and the Historic Preservation Commission. These Boards and Authorities provide an excellent opportunity for citizens to participate in their Government. Now is an ideal time to apply for these positions. For example, the Airport Authority may be considering expansion of Athens-Ben Epps Airport, and the Downtown Development Authority will be considering the proposed Downtown Master Plan. The Planning Commission, the Hearings Board, and the Historic Preservation Commission should be considering some interesting issues in the near future in light of proposed new development in the Athens-Clarke County area.
