HD 113 Election: Meet Alan Alexander

Alan Alexander Officially Qualifies for State House. Announces Campaign Leadership Team. 
Local attorney, Alan Alexander (R-Watkinsville) officially qualified for the State House District 113 on Monday. Hank Huckaby resigned the seat to become the next Chancellor of the University System. 

Said Alexander, "I am excited to officially be in the race for the State House. I've served our country in the US Army. I've served our community through youth league sports. I've built a business here and am raising my family here. Now I want to serve our families in the State House. We need a leader we can trust to fight for our families, respect our tax dollars and protect our schools. That's why I'm running."

Alan also announced his campaign leadership team comprised of respected citizens across the district:

“I am proud to have the support of so many well respected citizens around our community join my campaign. They understand they can trust me to serve this area in the State House,” stated Alexander.

An attorney and small business owner, Alan Alexander owns his own legal practice, Alexander and Saxon in Athens and has practiced law for over 40 years. 

A graduate of the University of Georgia and University of Georgia Law School, Alan was admitted to the bar in both Georgia and Florida in 1969. 

A man committed to service, Alan served as a commissioned Captain in the JAGC in the United States Army from 1969 to 1976. 

Alan serves as the City Attorney for Crawford, GA since 1991, and he previously served as the city attorney for Winterville and as Judge of the Winterville Municipal Court from 1973 to 1975. 

A man of faith, Alan is a member of Watkinsville First United Methodist church, and is currently on the Board of Trustees. Prior to that time he was a member of FUMC of Athens and served on its Board. 

He is a past Vice President and member of the Board of the Athens Little League Association. Alan has served as "Coach" for many youth activities including, but not limited to, Athens Little League, Oconee County Little League (baseball) and Oconee County Recreation Department as head football coach for many years. 

Alan, 66, resides in Watkinsville and has 6 children, 2 of which still attend Oconee County Schools.
