Please join the Federation of Neighborhoods on Monday evening January 10th for the ACC Charter Review and Overview Commission. The meeting will be held at the Fire Hall at 489 Prince Avenue (Athens-ClarkeHeritage Foundation) at 7:30 pm. The Overview Commission is a group of 21 citizens appointed every ten years by the grand jury to review the operations of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County and how well our local government is fulfilling the mandates of its charter. The membership consists of two citizens from each district, along with a chair. This year's Overview Commission was a diverse groups, including businesspersons, entrepreneurs, retirees, members of the academic and nonprofit communities, and many others. After a year of meeting with citizens, local elected officials, and employees of the government, the Overview Commission prepared and released a set of recommendations on ways to improve service delivery and quality of life for Athens residents. FON meetings are always free and open to the public. |
