September 8th Meeting

Superior Court Judge David Sweat and Probate Court Judge Susan Tate spoke to the Clarke County Republican Party meeting on Monday evening, September 8th. The topic of their talk was the initiation of a Mental Health Treatment Court in Clarke County. Judge Sweat reported that from 16 to 25% of county inmates suffered from some sort of mental illness and that many crimes are averted through the treatment of these illnesses.

Judge Tate elaborated on the program by explaning that there were four stages to treatment of patients. Stabilization, engagement, an expectation to maintain treatment, and of course the transition to independence.

We appreciate their efforts and sincerity, as both were obvious. We also thank them for coming to visit with us.
