Meet Mitch Swan at our March 10th meeting

Mitchell Swan is a colonel in the United States Marine Corps reserves and a resident of Athens, Georgia.
Mitchell was born in Boston, Massachusetts and remained in that area throughout his childhood; until 1983 when he left to attend Marquette University’s Business School and NROTC Program in Milwaukee. He graduated from Marquette in May 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He would later earn his MBA at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In 1995 Mitchell was assigned to serve as the Lead Instructor at (then) the Navy Supply Corps School, Athens. In 1999, upon completion of his four assignment, Mitchell left active duty in order to raise his family in Athens and pursue a career as an investment advisor. He would later return to the Marines, as a reservist, in April 2001—five months prior to 9/11.  Since that event he was recalled to active-duty and mobilized away from the area—and his children—for a total of 5 ½ years. His last active-duty assignment was developing U.S. Policy for the Middle East as a staff officer with U.S. Central Command, Tampa.  (This content neither implies nor constitutes an endorsement of Swan for America by the USMCR or the DOD.)
Mitchell is a single parent of three children; Matthew, Andrew and Samantha. His son Matthew is a senior—and class president—at Athens Academy and plans to attend the U.S. Naval Academy next Fall.  His son Andrew, a freshmen at Athens Academy, is actively involved in sports; specifically football, basketball and track. Samantha, his daughter, experienced a cord wrap during birth and has cerebral palsy.  A delightful and energetic teenager, Samantha attends Malcom Bridge Middle School and is actively involved with all ESP Programs in Watkinsville.  - swanforamerica.com
