Commissioners, Accountability and Clarke County: Is Transparency Enough?
















Commissioner Doug Lowry says that the short answer is, “No”. While transparency is one important condition to ensure taxpayers will be provided with the government services they pay for, transparency is not enough. To be effective, shining a light on local government activities requires additional conditions be present.

This presentation will begin to help you to understand where the Athens-Clarke County government is today with respect to transparency, what some of these additional necessary conditions are and what you can do to ensure your elected officials are doing their jobs.

Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Doug Lowry will make a presentation on this topic at the Athens GOP October 14th meeting.
