Donate to trust in memory of SPO Buddy Christian


You can go to this site to make donations in honor of Athens-Clarke County Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian.  Donations will be placed in a fund for the wife and his two children.

We would like to thank Ken Sherman and all those involved in organizing the the Fallen Heroes Ride - to be held next Sunday, April 3rd, The Fallen Heroes Ride will leave from Jittery Joe's on Baxter Street, in the Kroger Shopping Center, at 1 p.m.  Ride day registration will begin at 12 noon. There is a suggested donation of $25 per rider.  Please make out your checks to "Fallen Heroes Ride."

Through the remainder of March, Fox's will donate $1 from each lunch pizza buffet & 50% of each active duty police officer lunch pizza buffet purchase to the "Buddy" Christian Fund. Additional donations will also be gladly accepted. Please help us support those that do so much to make Athens the great community that it is by helping spread the word so we can mazimize the donation instead of spending on advertising of the event.

We wanted to show our support to the slain officer's family so we are creating a t-shirt to raise money for the Christian family. These shirts are not being sold as profit for us...we want to help this family as much as we can.
The t-shirts will be a Charcoal Grey 100% pre-shrunk cotton t-shirt with black and blue ink.


You can also donate to Officer Christian's fund at Athens First Bank. 

These will be available in sizes Youth small through Adult 3X. These t-shirts will be $15.00 each with a minimum of $10 going to his family.(adult 2X - $16.00, and 3X $17.00) If you would like one please let us know how many and what size. Cash and debit/credit will be forms of payment accepted. If using debit/credit please add 3% processing fee so can give as much money as possible to the Christian fund. Thanks!!  Wednesday, March 30th at 6:00 p.m. is the order deadline for the first printing. Friday, April 1st at 6:00 p.m. will be the second printing deadline.

  • Shane's Rib Shack on N. Milledge Ave. will give a coupon worth $5 to any one who contributes at least $5 at the store to the Elmer "Buddy" Christian Fund. They will place a collection box at counter and will collect funds through the end of March. Jim Hopkins contributed the first $100 to get it started.

Friends and Co-workers will be hosting a benefit cookout for Tony Howard and family on SUNDAY April 10 (12:00-until). Howards Body Shop on W. Broad St. Plates will be $6 with your choice of fish, chicken, hbgs, hotdogs, slaw, baked beans and cake.
