Our speakers for the evening are Charlie Maddox who is a candidate for mayor of Athens-Clarke County and Kirk Shook candidate for Georgia State House District 113.
Charlie Maddox is a lifelong resident of Athens and has recently retired after 34 years in the Georgia Department of Labor in several leadership positions. Charlie Maddox has been very active in several civic organizations over the past several years including the Salvation Army, Hope Haven, the NE GA Food Bank , chaired the Athens Housing Authority for 15 years, and was involved in several other groups. From his campaign website: "If we are going to ask our citizens for the amount of their money that we ask for, our government must implement policies that will provide fiscal responsibility requirements for each department, action and initiative of local government."
Kirk Shook is a resident of Ogelthorpe and is employed by North Oconee High School, teaching, economics, history, and government. Kirk also coaches football. Kirk was elected chair of the Ogelthorpe County GOP in 2009 and has been active in the GOP since he was 16.
