A group for young Republicans in the Athens area has started under the direction of Kirk Shook, chair of the Ogelthorpe County Republican Party. The target membership for the group is those aged 18-40 (emphasis on 21-30 given the area we live in). The group meets every 4th Thursday at Buffalos Café in the Colonial Beechwood shopping center on Alps Road. Social networking begins at 6:30 p.m., with speakers following at 7:00 p.m.
The next meeting is slated for 25 March, when the speakers will be Gerry Purcell (candidate for Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner), Gary Black (candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture), and Kelley Gary (candidate for State Senate District 47).
