Jim Geiser, candidate for the District 6 seat on the Clarke County Board of Education, was the speaker at the Clarke County Republican Party's October meeting, held on Monday, October 13th. Mr. Geiser is from Baton Rouge, LA. He moved to Athens after Katrina and has been involved in education for many years. Mr. Geiser was involved in creating the second charter school in Louisana. Mr. Geiser mentioned an eleven month school year schedule as a potential solution along with schools serving the local neighborhood, rather than transporting kids from one district to another. Mr. Geiser stressed the important of the school board having a common vision.
